  1. A Merry Magpie

    A long long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
    But February made me shiver
    With every paper I'd deliver
    Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
    I can't remember if I heard
When I read about his old blackbird
But something touched me deep inside
    The day the music died

So, bye-bye Miss, a Merry Magpie
Drove my chevy to the levee
    But the levee was dry
And them good old birds were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

  2. To the Tune of American pie

    I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride,
But something touched me deep inside
    The day the music died.

    So bye-bye, miss american MAGPIE.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
    But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die.
"this’ll be the day that I die."

  3. To the tune of the Beatle's Blackbird:

    Magpies gossiping along the fence
Take your tired old tales and go away
    For all time
I am so tired of what you have to say

    Magpies gossiping on village green
Take your spitefulness and learn to care
    Right away
You are just only wanting to be seen and to stare

    Magpies go, Magpies go
Into the false warmth of your nests

    Magpies go, Magpies go
Into the false warmth of your nests

    Magpies gossiping along the fence
Take your tired old tales and go away
    For all time
I am so tired of what you have to say
I am so tired of what you have to say
I am so tired of what you have to say

  4. To the tune of Elton John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'

When are you gonna shut up
When are you going to freeze
    My temper is flaring up
It’s time you took a trip overseas

You know you can't talk for forever
It is not ok with me
I cannot stand anymore of your chatter
You always drink too much of our Chablis…

    So goodbye silly magpie
Even our dogs have started to howl
You can't stay here I’m not your guy
    We never pledged any vow

Off to New York, Rome, or Singapore
    Hunting the next poor fellow
Oh I finally know I can’t take any more
of your words thick and hollow …
