I have a friend: Arboreal
ReplyDeleteWho lives up in the trees
He thinks I'm Jane. Is he for real?
But makes me weak in the knees
If you think
ReplyDeleteYour Magic Tree House
in a blink
will open my blouse,
you're dreaming,
O Tarzan!
I'm looking
for a man
dressed to the nines
not afraid to sing
funny lines.
someone who's loving,
arboreal or not,
who won't be thinking
that he's a big shot.
The house can be special
down on the ground.
Dear boy, in a nutshell:
my king, you won't be crowned.
Arboreal dancing
ReplyDeleteWith lower limbs prancing
On branches of red oak
Which could never be broke
Under the full moon high
Covered by leaves in the sky
#firstdraft of Joyce kilmer's poem
ReplyDeleteI THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as an arboreal.
An arboreal whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
An arboreal that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
An arboreal that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make an arboreal (ugh! doesn't sound right)
