    I break the Mad Mutation with this, I'm afraid, but I woke this morning with it in my head and wanted to share.

    29-31 July

    My annual discomfort.
    Athwart two years,
    I feel the old year sliding backward into memory
    as the new slips forward into the unknown.
    Caught once more
    between fear and thrill.
    Will I fall between?
    Or keeping my balance,
    will I transfer myself,
    clumsily but dry,
    once again to the new?
